  • The first documentation to place the Bell family in Utah is the record of members in the Salt Lake City 19th Ward  in 1852.  A baby was born in Salt Lake City in 1853, and Mary Ellen was baptized in Salt Lake City 13 November 1853.  Further research is needed to determine the year they arrived and the name of the pioneer company they traveled to Utah with.

The family was in Jacks Valley, Carson, Utah at the time of the 1860 Utah census, and the family eventually moved to Idaho.

Mary Ellen's name is listed as "Mary Ellen Goodenough" on her death certificate.
