Jane Birin

Facebook Twitter Print Mail
  • Jane's surname is difficult to read on the original rebaptism record in the Salt Lake Record of Members.  It could be "Burins," or another variation of the name,  but there are clearly two "i's" in the original record, which makes it likely to be spelled "Birin."  There is no variation of the spelling in the 1850 Utah census, and the first documentation to place her in Utah is her rebaptism 26 June 1853.  This was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration, so it is likely that she arrived in Utah in 1851 or 1852.  Further research is needed to determine the year of her arrival and the name of the pioneer company she traveled with.
