  • The Adam family sailed to America in 1850 on the ship North Atlantic, arriving in New Orleans on 1 November 1850.  The ship manifest shows their surname as "Adams."

William's sons, Alexander and William, were rebaptized in Salt Lake City on 29 February 1852, and his daughter Jemima was married in Salt Lake City on 21 May 1852, which proves that the family arrived in Utah in 1851.   William's name is listed in the Book of Recorded Marks and Brands on 26 May 1852.   He also purchased property in Salt Lake City 26 September 1853 and then sold it two days later.  Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company with which they traveled to Utah.

The Adam family was in California by 1860 when the the Census was taken.
