Joseph Russell

  • Joseph Russell, a ship builder, was from Scotland, and emigrated to New Brunswick before 1819, where he was married. He was converted to Mormonism in about 1840, in New Brunswick. The family returned to England where Joseph sold the last ship that he had built and to close his shipbuilding business.  They sailed back to America on the ship "Africa" in 1851 and they arrived in New York on 24 September, then came to Utah in 1852.
