  • Thomas traveled overseas on the ship Golconda, with his wife, children, and son-in-law, arriving in New Orleans on 18 March 1854. All but his daughter, Sarah Ann Squires, and son-in-law, John Green, died of Cholera in Missouri before leaving for Utah. First documentation to place him in Utah was a marriage in Salt Lake in November 1855 to Margaret Luke Thompson.
