She was born at Obed township, Branch county, Michigan, on Sept. 14th, 1840. She became a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the year 1860, being baptized by Orson Pratt. In 1860 her father, Arba Lamson, wh[o] had already emigrated west with the family, returned to Florence (later being known as Winterquarters) for the purpose of bringing his daughter to Utah.
Sister Vincent was at that time a widow with two little girls whose father was killed in the Civil war. Leaving Florence on July 23, with a company of fourteen men, four women and two children, all of whom were saints, they reached Springville on the 8th day of the following September. Sister Vincent did the cooking for the party during the long journey.
