Tuesday 12th [July.] ascended a hill about three miles long took a left hand road to strike platte river[.] met br Elijah Thomas with a company of Saints from N.Y. br Foster geting better[.] I met about 19 hundred sheep bound for California[.]
Wednesday 13th [July.] reached Laramie Fort ferried over and Camped about 4 miles below; this day passed about 3500 Sheep, br E.R. Hanks treated the Company and gave two fresh mules for two jaded horses.
Friday 15 [July.] met br David Wilkin with a company of Saints between Scotts Blufs and Chimney rock[.] good Spirit in camp,
Saturday 15 [July.] br Wilkin killed a fated calf for supper[.] Br David Robertson formerly from Wales drowned to day left a wife and two children[.]
