By the help of God we all arrived in safety on the frontiers about the 21st of April and through his almighty power having brought Bro Erastus Snow and I off conquerers; With my health still improving a little I looked around made my purchases of four yoke of oxen: (Bringing my waggon from Saint Louis) Began to prepare and make preparations for the start Remaining and resting in camp for some weeks; Our company an independant one making the final overland start on the morning of the 7th of June with Bro John Hindley of American Fork Utah as Captain Continued to travel mostly about 20 miles a day (Except Sundays and lay over days) in Sunshine and rain Heat and cold Up and down rough rocky and steep sand hills; Crossing barren deserts Fording Rivers Etc I gave a young man passage in my waggon, And one morning about the 1st of August about one hundred miles west of Fort Larimie (sic) [Laramie] I gave him the whip and told him to manage the team while I took a little stroll along with some of the young folks ahead of our train but I had not been gone more than a half hour before word came to me that he had tipped my waggon over in a creek which broke up and damaged the goods which consisted of Stoves. Hardware: quensware <(Queen's ware)> and dry goods. Groceries Etc Which caused our train to have to lay by the rest of the day to give me time to unpack and dry my goods get loaded up again and all things fixed in shipshape again for a start on the morrow; Our Company without any more mishaps of this kind arrived in safety in great Salt Lake City on the 3d day of Sept
