General Conference Research Guide

Welcome to the research guide for general conferences of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Conferences have been held continually since 1830. (See a list of conference sessions and where they were held until 1980. For conference sessions held in 1971 and after, visit ChurchofJesusChrist.org.) The Church History Library maintains conference reports and audiovisual collections to assist in the study of general conference. This guide presents material on the history of conference, guidance on how to find and access conference addresses, and information on the music associated with conference.

Conference messages are given to address the needs of a congregation in a specific time. Messages given in the past may not be applicable to contemporary religious practice. Terms and language used are part of the historical record and do not represent current attitudes. For questions and concerns regarding current Church positions and policies, please refer to ChurchofJesusChrist.org, or speak to local Church leaders.
