General Scripture References

Book of Mormon (English)

The Church has a long history of publishing, with the Book of Mormon being its first official publication. The book was published in 1830 at the E.B. Grandin Press in Palmyra, New York. Forty-one printing differences have been identified in the text (for example, corrected typographical errors). The first printing consisted of 5,000 copies. Since then, over 200 million copies of the Book of Mormon have been printed (as of December 2023).

Later editions include formatting changes such as double columns, verse numeration, chapter headings and summaries, footnotes, and so on.

Book of Commandments/Doctrine and Covenants (English)

The Book of Commandments was published in 1833. It was later revised and replaced with the Doctrine and Covenants in 1835.

Pearl of Great Price (English)

Initially published in 1851 by Franklin D. Richards in Liverpool, United Kingdom, the Pearl of Great Price was later canonized as scripture in the October 1880 general conference.
