Explore dozens of recently digitized collections to enable your research wherever you are in the world.

Below you’ll find December’s list of recently digitized materials to explore in the Church History Catalog, such as this report on how valuable Church records were saved from the Council House fire of June 21, 1883. The Council House was an early Salt Lake City building that, before the completion of the Salt Lake Temple, was used for both endowment ceremonies and the territorial government’s offices. Church leaders, including the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, also used the Council House for meetings and record storage. The report tells how William H. H. Sharp attempted to save as many records as he could before a neighboring powder magazine exploded and blew him down the Council House’s stairs. (He lived.)
