Alfred Alder

Alfred was a machinist and a repairman by trade and helped the Saints repair wagons, to make their journey westward after the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith. He could also smelt iron and temper steel. Alfred married Sally Fields in 1848 and they traveled with the Claudius V. Spencer Company, arriving in Salt Lake City in 1853, with two of their 12 children they would have together.
