Carrie traveled to the Salt Lake Valley in 1864.  Further research is needed to identify which company she traveled with.  Her mother, Kirsten Petersen, is found in the Perpetual Emigrating Fund records on 15 October 1863, and her mother is also found in the Logan 1st Ward records on 17 October 1864.  Also, Carrie married Karl Keppner on 11 September 1865 in Logan.

She is found as Karen Larsine Petersen on the ship registers of the Monarch of the Sea, which traveled from Liverpool to New York from 28 April-3 June 1864. Also found on the ship registers were her mother and siblings Alma Franklin Nelson, Soren Joseph Nielsen, and Nels Nelson.
