Called to go serve with his unlce, Hiram Spencer, from Garden Grove, Iowa, back to Nauvoo, Ilinois, to sell personal property and bring back supplies. They bargained property for 110 head of mixed cattle. His uncle died on the mission while driving the cattle to Mount Pisgah, Union, Iowa.
