James Graham Sr. (1804 - 1857) Profile

James Graham, Sr.

JH: April 15, 1844

Company records indicate that there were two men, by the name of "Graham" who were teamsters in the 1850 Wilford Woodruff pioneer company and were traveling with their families.

The first is James Graham Sr. (1804-1857), who initially traveled to the Valley the year before with two of his sons. Apparently, he returned to the east shortly after securing land in the Valley, to bring his second wife and other children to Utah.  His first wife had died in Iowa in 1846 in Iowa.

The second "Brother Graham" may have been his 19-year-old son George Butler Graham, but further research is needed to confirm this.

In the 1850 Utah Census surname is shown as "Grayham."
