James Meek

James and his family emigrated to the United States in 1850. They sailed on the ship Argo

He traveled to Utah by 1853 because he was rebaptized in Salt Lake City on 29 Nov. 1853 according to information in the Tenth Ward record of members. In that source his surname is spelled Meeks and his birth is given as 1809.

Not all of his children traveled to Utah. Some of the older children remained in other states.

In the 1860 census, James, Mary, Ellen, Margaret, and a person by the name of William Blain were listed as living in the Meek household. It is unclear if his son Joseph died before arriving to Utah or if he was simply left off of the census.
