John Carlin

Birth Date
On 1822 April 4 (Born)
Death Date
On 1864 September 29 (Died)
Gender
Male

John Carlin emigrated from Scotland with his wife Ann, children Ann, Mary, Margaret and James. They traveled from Liverpool to New York City by way of the ship General McClellan. The Carlin family is listed on two separate company rosters for the 1864 Warren Company and the 1864 Rawlins Company. This could have been due to a recording error, however, it is also possible that the family moved from one company to the other while en route. The Warren company roster includes the names of each individual family member, while the Rawlins Company list of passengers is written as "John Carlin and family."

According to a journal entry written by a teamster for the Warren company, John died while on the trail. Birth date listed found in a personal, online family history record (such as Family Tree, Ancestry, or My Heritage), without any accompanying documentation. Further research is needed to verify its accuracy.
