John Chapman
John and his wife, Eliza, traveled with his mother and father-in-law. The family arrived in New York on 11 June 1866 via the ship Caroline. Though the Thompson company records only list Thomas Jackson, as head of household, the notation that he purchased four adult food rations indicates the rest of the group accompanied him during this portion of the journey as well.
John's mother, Mary Ann Chapman, sailed with them, but no proof has been found that she continued on to Utah.
