Richard M. Varley
The Varley family traveled to America on the ship Zetland arriving in New Orleans on 26 December 1849. Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company with which they crossed the plains.
Richard was re-baptized at Salt Lake City on 2 November 1851. His name appears in the records of the Utah Territorial Militia in August 1853.
His death date is confirmed by the inscription on his gravestone in San Bernardino, California which shows his name as "Richard Varley."
