William Addington Martindale

CR 100 160: birth, place, parents, baptism, missions, death (Des. News March 19, 1873)

There were 7 people in his group. William served as the Captain of the 1st Ten, and Captain of the Guard.

Franklin Fitzfield Carter was an orphan whose father, Richard Carter, died in 1846 and in 1852 his mother, Hannah Parker Carter died.  William and his wife Rebecca brought Franklin to Utah, and his name appears as "Franklin Martindale" on the company roster.

At the end of a mission, William traveled to the Salt Lake Valley in the Milo Andrus Company in 1861 as indicated in Milo Andrus Emigrating Company Journal.  He was the sergeant of the guard as well as assistant Captain.  An early-day editor of the Journal History misidentified this returning missionary as William C. Martindale.  Church Missionary records identify him as William A. Martindale.

In 1862, he was a returning missionary from the United States.
