Nearby parking options include the underground garage at City Creek Center (one block southeast of the museum; free for the first 2 hours) and other downtown public parking locations. Fees and rates may vary. The museum does not validate parking. Please note that downtown parking is limited and may differ during the Salt Lake Temple Square renovation project.
The museum lot (located on the west side of the museum) is subject to frequent closures due to construction and events and is generally not recommended for public parking at this time. There is a 10-minute parking zone directly outside the museum’s front doors. Limited two-hour metered parking is also available on the street. Street parking is free on Saturdays and for those with a disability permit.
The Temple Square TRAX (light-rail) station is located half a block south of the museum. Use of TRAX and buses in the downtown area is free. Visit RideUTA.com to plan your trip to the museum using public transportation.

The museum does not conduct public tours of any kind. Our exhibits are designed for a self-guided experience, allowing patrons to discover the interactive activities and education stations at their own pace. Museum docents are stationed throughout the exhibits to provide spontaneous short presentations in the galleries and help answer questions.

The museum offers two interactive game-show-type programs specifically designed for groups: “Museum Detective” and “Ask of God.” These programs are held in the museum auditorium and introduce patrons to the museum’s main exhibit, The Heavens Are Opened. Groups generally participate in these programs prior to exploring the exhibit. “Museum Detective” is 30 minutes long. “Ask of God” is 15 minutes long.
Both auditorium programs are held every Tuesday and Wednesday between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Reservations are not required unless your group is over 200 people (the auditorium seats 190). The museum offers a variety of activities for families and children of all ages. In addition to the interactive displays and activity carts you’ll find throughout the museum, there are three “Fun for Families” activity pamphlets available at the front desk with activities that can be completed by exploring displays and artifacts throughout the museum exhibits. On average most people spend around 1.5 to 2 hours visiting the museum.
Patrons are welcome to bring their own strollers through the museum. A limited number of single-seat strollers are also available for free checkout at the front desk. Please do not leave your children unattended.
Food, drink, and pets are not allowed in the building. Please don’t touch art and artifacts on display.

Patrons are encouraged to check coats, luggage, large bags, food, and so forth at the front desk. Items will be returned upon your departure.
The museum store offers a wide array of books by Latter-day Saint authors, as well as jewelry, souvenirs, collectibles, and music for purchase. There is also a wide selection of Latter-day Saint art prints available only through the museum store.
The museum does not provide public Wi-Fi access.

The First Vision Theater in The Heavens Are Opened exhibit offers headsets with audio translation of the film in seven languages: Chinese-Mandarin, English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The museum and all exhibit areas are wheelchair accessible. There is also ample seating throughout the building. A limited number of wheelchairs are available for free checkout at the front desk on a first-come-first-served basis.
The museum does not have specifically designated handicap parking. However, all street parking stalls offer two hours free parking for those with a disability permit. There is also a 10-minute parking zone directly outside the front doors that can be used as a drop-off/pickup area.
