John Heaston

The Heaston family arrived in Utah in either 1861 or 1862. John is seen in his father's household in Iowa at the time of the 1860 census and a son, Alonzo Allen Heaston, was born in Salt Lake City in March of 1863. Family records indicate John and his wife Maria were married in Iowa April of 1862, which would indicate they traveled that same year. However, further research is needed to confirm that.

Birth date confirmed by West Jordan Ward records at the time of a baptism on 25 February 1864. Ward records show a baptism for John's sister Mahala, along with his and his wife's indicating she likely made the trip with them.
