Maria Field

The Heaston family arrived in Utah in either 1861 or 1862. Maria is seen in her father's household in Iowa at the time of the 1860 census and her son, Alonzo Allen Heaston, was born in Salt Lake City in March of 1863. Family records indicate Maria and her husband, John, were married in Iowa April of 1862, which would indicate they traveled that same year. However, further research is needed to confirm that.

Birth date confirmed by West Jordan Ward records at the time of a baptism on 25 February 1864. Ward records show a baptism for Maria's sister-in-law, Mahala, along with that of her and her husband's, indicating she likely made the trip with them.
