Sarah Jane McKeachie
Daughter of William and Sarah Jane McKeachie. The family crossed the Atlantic on the ship George W. Bourne in 1851. They were on the ill-fated steamboat Saluda in 1852 when it exploded. Sarah was severely injured but, apparently, her father and two of her brothers (John and William) were killed. The fate of her brother James is unknown. At some point Sarah's mother married William Magee. In 1860 Sarah was in Ogden, Utah under the surname "Magae."
Sarah's birth and death dates are confirmed by the inscription on her gravestone in Nevada. At the time of her death, her surname was "Wightman."
